Trixy Walker: President 2019-2020
As the 37th President of The Executive Women of the Palm Beaches Foundation, I am proud to represent a powerful group of leaders who dedicate themselves to empowering women to succeed and lead both personally and professionally for the betterment of business and community.
Last year, members gathered at the annual retreat to determine our priorities for the coming year. With an emphasis on technology, philanthropy, communication, and membership, we moved forward with optimism and enthusiasm. I am so pleased to share with you our accomplishments in the use of technology through the launch of this website, a weekly e-newsletter for members and upgraded software and hardware to increase efficiency.
In the area of philanthropy, we awarded $39,500 through 20 scholarships and another $20,000 in Kwasman Community Impact Grants to Best Foot Forward and Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies. We are also continuing our support of a local rising leader through the 2020 Pathfinder Award.
Our membership and programs committee have increased membership and hosted exciting new programs that have expanded our connections in the community and featured inspiring discussions about the role of women in business, government, and politics.
Most recently, as the business world has been responding to the Coronavirus, we pivoted to virtual meetings and events and expanded our presence on social media. Additionally, for the safety of all members, guests and sponsors, the Annual Women in Leadership Awards (WILA) Luncheon, our largest fundraiser for the year, was postponed to September 15th. We look at the added timeline as an opportunity to further engage our honorees and celebrate the nominees who are all worthy of our praise and recognition.
Last year, none of us could have predicted where we would be in the Spring of 2020. However, I am proud to have been able to serve EWPBF as President through this time as we each construct our new normal. I believe this trying time has taught us that we must lean on each other and together, we will continue to thrive as the voice that inspires integrity, empowerment, collaboration, and leadership.
The EWPBF Past Presidents have created a legacy for us in leading the way for involvement in community service, and advancing the progress of women in Palm Beach County.
